PUBLICATION

Publication of the National Action Plan (PAN) Shark

Sharks, stingrays and chimaeras are highly vulnerable resources. This is why the national fishing authority (INCODER for its name in spanish) together with the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry have established handling measures in the country; with the purpose of reducing the incidental fishing of the above mentioned and to prohibit the finning.

As a result of such efforts and through a process of collective construction; today we offer a Plan of National Action for the preservation and handling of sharks, stingrays and chimaeras. Where they propose and plan the course of priority action on short, medium and long terms at a national and regional level within the components of the investigation; the fisheries management; environmental education and publication associated with the process. Additionally the strategies of sustainable conservation and uses are included. These will need to be articulated with the management policies of the protected natural areas along with the productive alternatives for the reduction of the fishing impact on the shark and stingray populations.
